I must be the last person on the planet to realise that there is a never ending list of monthly subscription boxes. These lovely boxes of surprise treats are posted to you once a month and cover all things from beauty and hair, to comics, gardening and flowers to food, comic books and games to clothes. I discovered glossybox by pure accident. Through the unidays app, (a facility to use a student discount online) they were offering 30% off your first two boxes so I had to try it out. I signed up for the monthly option as this can be cancelled at anytime (giving enough notice). I gave my shipping and payment details and then was asked to fill out my ‘beauty profile’. This is just a few quick questions covering what colour and type of hair you have, what colour you consider your skin and if you have any issues such as acne or dry skin. This is just so that each box can be tailored to you in the future.
My first parcel arrived through the door less than a week after I ordered it and my first impression was that the packaging was beautiful. It is a strong sturdy box that I will definitely keep to store things in. The contents on the inside were wrapped in pink tissue paper and tied with a black bow. I had to restrain myself from ripping it open to take the picture. So pretty.
Inside the box I got 5 things. The first was an intuition razor. I was delighted with this as it’s the same brand I use at the moment. It’s always handy to have spares. Then there was a full size conditioning hark mask by NAOBAY. I have never heard of this brand before so can’t wait to try it out. I have very colour damaged hair so it will be interesting to see it this helps. It smells amazing. A kind of lemon and ginger scent.
I also got a full sized eyeliner by Nicka K New York (I think) haha. It’s a retractable eyeliner pencil with a sponge on the end. The downside is its in brown, a colour eyeliner that I don’t use usually. The upside is I will definitely try it out now that I have it and you never know it might become something I use more often.
There was a lip tint by Royal Apothic. The packaging for this is very pretty and it is in a colour that I will definitely use regularly. It is a tinted lip butter or balm that can be used on its own or on top of lipstick. It has a high gloss finish with a colour similar to the rose vaseline.
Finally there was a slanted tweezers with the most beautiful vintage flower design on the side. The tip has great grip but isn’t so sharp that it will just cut the hair. Another addition to my tweezer collection.
All in all I was impressed with the first months delivery. I don’t know if they make the first box really good just to keep you subscribed but we will see when the March box arrives. For more information on the subscription options you can check out their website here. Glossybox Subscription
